I sent $5 to school with Jayce to spend at the PTO Santa Shop. He was to buy gifts for his brother and sister. If he had money left, he was to buy for Moma and Daddy. His teacher called me before Jayce got home to tell me about Jayce's visit to the Santa Shop. It went something like this:
clerk: That will be $12.
Jayce: Hands the clerk the $5.
clerk: Sweetie, you don't have enough money. You will need to put some of it back.
Jayce: But my sister and brother REALLY need this.
clerk: Ok, well maybe you can get this for your brother and sister and put the other things back.
Jayce: My Moma is just going to love this and my Daddy really needs this.
clerk: Maybe you can ask your mom for some more money.
Jayce: She doesn't have anymore and my family really needs this.
Jayce goes on and on until...
clerk: Sweetie, you can have it all for $5!
I told his teacher he must be in training to be a lawyer. You wear them out until they just give in and settle.
Jayce came home and wrapped his gifts (see the picture). A roll of tape later, this is what he so proudly put under the tree. Oh, he did manage to get himself a $2 toy!!! So, he used almost half of the money on himself, and managed to get the rest at 50% off!!! I will make sure to take him shopping with me next time!!
We will be making a donation to the PTO after Christmas!
