Hangin' Out!

We are just hangin' out today! Lakyn is still trying to recover from a stomach bug and Conley is still trying to get over a horrible cough and runny nose. Jayce is enjoying his break from school.

We had a nice Christmas although it came and went so fast. Lakyn was pretty shy Christmas morning. She started out in her Daddy's lap until she warmed up. Once she got started opening gifts, she would stop and play with each toy before moving on. Jayce likes to rip them open, toss them to the side for later, and keep on a going. Conley was pretty entertained with the wrapping paper and just all the noise and excitement that went with Christmas morning. Lakyn got her first bicycle, dolls, baby bed, videos, books, skates, fishing rod, clothes and lots more. Jayce got a Wii fishing game, fishing rod, skates, books, quilts, BB gun, clothes, and much more. Conley received teething toys, train, clothes, books, My First Tackle Box, and much more.

Mimi, Papaw, and Lindsey spent a couple of days with us after Christmas. The kids had a blast playing with them. Jayce and Papaw played lots of baseball and football outside. Lindsey enjoyed playing "BINGO" with Jayce and Papaw. Lakyn and Mimi enjoyed playing "school." They all enjoyed going to the movies and watching Alive and the Chimpmunks. Brad and I enjoyed some alone time. I even got a much needed pedicure. We sure missed seeing the rest of the family, but we were able to visit over the phone. Most of all, we just enjoyed the company of family.

I made....ornaments

I made this first ornament for myself and one like it for my friend. My very talented friend, Sarah taught me how to make the other ornaments. I'm thinking of making ornaments for my family for next Christmas. Yep, get those projects a brewing for next year!

I made this one for my sweet girl, Lakyn

Merry Christmas!!

Merry CHRISTmas! The kids wore their Santa hats last night. We went to eat at Applebee's, cruised our neighborhood to look at Christmas lights (our street was the best), and opened up their Scooby Doo pajamas.

Lawyer in Training?

I sent $5 to school with Jayce to spend at the PTO Santa Shop. He was to buy gifts for his brother and sister. If he had money left, he was to buy for Moma and Daddy. His teacher called me before Jayce got home to tell me about Jayce's visit to the Santa Shop. It went something like this:

clerk: That will be $12.
Jayce: Hands the clerk the $5.
clerk: Sweetie, you don't have enough money. You will need to put some of it back.
Jayce: But my sister and brother REALLY need this.
clerk: Ok, well maybe you can get this for your brother and sister and put the other things back.
Jayce: My Moma is just going to love this and my Daddy really needs this.
clerk: Maybe you can ask your mom for some more money.
Jayce: She doesn't have anymore and my family really needs this.

Jayce goes on and on until...

clerk: Sweetie, you can have it all for $5!

I told his teacher he must be in training to be a lawyer. You wear them out until they just give in and settle.

Jayce came home and wrapped his gifts (see the picture). A roll of tape later, this is what he so proudly put under the tree. Oh, he did manage to get himself a $2 toy!!! So, he used almost half of the money on himself, and managed to get the rest at 50% off!!! I will make sure to take him shopping with me next time!!

We will be making a donation to the PTO after Christmas!

Christmas Program

Like most of you, I'm busier this time of year than I should be! Jayce was in the Christmas program at church this past Sunday. Although he didn't have any lines, he was the "Best Stander" in the world. He carried the baby Jesus without dropping him, too! Sounds like a good Joseph to me!

We have been busy with birthday parties, Cub scouts, baking, shopping, planning,.....

This is what Lakyn was doing during the play:

Who's Missing?

Baby's 1st Christmas

Jayce could have sat and talked to Santa all night!

Who's missing? Yep, Lakyn talked and talked about sitting with Santa until it was her turn. Can you really blame her? To her, he is a big, hairy stranger! She "called" Santa on the phone when we got home, so she is covered.

Our Trip

I will post a few pictures from our trip last weekend to Port Aransas. The kids were so excited to see the water as we went over the big bridge to the island. Lakyn said, "It is so big, a shark will get you!" Jayce kept asking, "Is that the ocean?" They both LOVED the beach! They enjoyed running from the waves in the cool water with their toes in the sand.

The first night, we tent camped at Mustang Island. We enjoyed meeting lots of new people, learning about the area, playing in the water and sand, making smores, grilling hotdogs, listening to the waves crash as we drifted to sleep, kayaking, geocaching and fishing. Jayce was the only one around to catch a fish. Fishing is in his blood! We stayed in a cabin the other 2 nights. We enjoyed eating local seafood, riding the ferry, and watching the dolphins.

Thanksgiving Memories

How did our day go? These photos are out of order, but baby needs me so here we go:

We finished the day off with popping popcorn on the stove and watching Home Alone. I love to hear my kids laugh!!

We decorated the Christmas tree. This year, Lakyn had the honor of putting the star on top.

Chocolate Pie!! Lakyn couldn't wait! Notice the little hand print in the pie!

Where's the turkey?

Lakyn really didn't care for much on her plate other than the corn. Jayce actually ate some dressing and green beans. The mashed potatoes and gravy were his favorites!
Our menu: Turkey, dressing, giblet gravy, mashed potatoes, corn, green bean bundles, rolls, deviled eggs, pumpkin pie and chocolate pie.

We are thankful to be together!

Thanksgiving Treats

I made these last year for Jayce's class. Use icing to adhere a peanut butter cup onto a chocolate covered cookie. Pipe on a square to the front.

This year, we made these apple Turkeys with Jayce's cub scout group. Put 3 spice drops on a toothpick X 7 for tail feathers (one is missing in the photo thanks to Lakyn), use toothpick to secure marshmallow, get marshmallow a little wet to adhere raisin eyes and candy corn beak, use 2 toothpicks for the legs and one more so turkey will stand. Fun and yummy treat!

5K

What in the world was I thinking?! My friend and I decided on Friday night we would run in the 5K on Saturday morning. What made us think we could handle this even though we WALK 3 miles 4-5 times a week? We had 2 goals. One was to not come in last and the other to do it in under 40 minutes. We weren't last because there were three other people behind us. We came in at just under 34 minutes. We hope to do even better in the 5K coming up in December.

Cowboy/Cowgirl Up!

Finally, here are pictures from Halloween night!

Jayce's favorite part of Halloween is giving out the candy.

We couldn't get Lakyn to say trick ot treat," but everyone enjoyed seeing her.

Check out Conley's boots!!!

Football Frenzy!

Conley attended his first football game. His eyes stayed as big as saucers during all the activity, but he seemed to enjoy it all.

craft projects

I'm learning to sew! I don't have loads of time to devote to the new hobby, but I'm enjoying it.

A child's apron:
I used a bandana that I purchased from the feed store for $2, a little rickrack, a couple of buttons and some ribbon. I spent about $4 to make this gift for our neighbor's liitle girl's 6th bithday. I got the idea from Martha Stewart Kids.

Crayon Roll:
I made two of these for the 9 year old twins who live behind us. I used the twistable crayons instead of regular crayons. I made 16 slots in case they want to use regular crayons later. I filled the extra slots with dum dum suckers. These rolls aren't perfect but still really cute. I used the tutorial found at www.skiptomylou.blogspot.com.
