Galveston, TX

What a fun time we had during spring break. On Monday, we just relaxed at home. Jayce was able to sleep in. He didn't sleep much because he is an early riser. He lounged around and just played. On Tuesday, we went bowling with other families who have a loved one deployed. On Wednesday, we went to San Antonio. He hit Bass Pro Shops, mexican food, Target, and hung out at the outdoor, heated pool. On Thursday, we headed to Katy, TX. We played in the indoor pool and ate chinese food. On Friday, we headed to Galveston and arrived around 2:00. We checked into our condo and waited on Aunt Mandy, River and Reyd to arrive. Once they got there, we headed to the beach. The weather was warm and calm, so the kids had so much fun in the water. We ate our dinner on the balcony overlooking the water. On Saturday, it was cooler and overcast, so we spent our morning fishing and collecting shells. Saturday afternoon was spent at the pool. Saturday late afternoon was spent back on the beach trying to build sandcastles which Conley kept destroying and flying a kite. Aunt Mandy had a little luck with the kite. The kids got cold and tired, so we headed back to the condo for a chicken dinner out on the patio. Sunday morning was spent getting ready and packing. The cousins really enjoyed each other. River and Jayce hung out and enjoyed their DSIs a little. Lakyn and Reyd are two peas in a pod. They like adventures and getting into things. Conley is like the 5th wheel, but they all tried to care for him. Mandy and I really enjoyed getting to visit. It was nice spending time with family.

The kids have talked about their cousins and the beach for days. I think they will remember this trip for a long time.

Some moments that stuck out: Conley wasn't crazy about the pool in the beginning. By the end of the trip, he was trying to swim by himself. Reyd tried to get brave several times in the water and would end up on his back. Yes, they all wore life jackets. River is so loving and told me he loved us several times. He and Jayce are both pretty sensitive boys, but they can be as rough as any boy. Lakyn swam across the pool with her life jacket on. She loves the hot tub and was disappointed she couldn't get into the one in Galveston because of the age requirement. She is pretty sure her Daddy will buy her a hot tub and a horse when he gets home. Ha! Lakyn also loved seeing all the bluebonnets during the drive home. Jayce has really grown and can swim all over the pool without a life jacket. He felt pretty special that he was old enough to get in the hot tub. He is growing up fast! I can see Reyd and Lakyn running together into the ocean. I can see Jayce serious about fishing. I can see Conley jumping off the side of the pool into my arms just a giggling. I can see me racing Jayce in the pool. I can see Lakyn and I playing ring around the rosies in the pool I can see Mandy running with the kite. I can see us all walking on the shore. Good times!!
