What's in a Name?

We like names that are a little different. We like to pair the different names with a very traditional name. We like the letter "y."

JAYCE BRADLEY
I first heard the name Jayce when I was about 12 years old. My best friend met a little boy at church camp named Jayce. I remember thinking the name was really different and even wanted to know how to spell it. To me, it sounds sporty and cute. When we were first expecting, I told Brad about the name. At first he said, no. I waited a few months and asked again. This time, he said, "Ya, I like that." Jayce shares the same middle name with Brad whose name is Robert Bradley. Of course, we all just call him "Brad." I knew the spelling would throw folks off a little. In time, I knew everyone would grow to love the name. Jayce is just like his name. It isn't short for another name. Jayce is Jayce all the time and doesn't put on fronts. He is a little unique but practical. Some folks do call him "JC" just because they don't know the "e" is silent. We even call him "JC" when we are playing around with him. Well, JC are his initials. I have loved this name for many years. I love my Jayce Bradley Crayne. Other names we considered: Brannon and Ashlyn

Lakyn Elizabeth
I first heard the name Lakyn while I watching a soap opera with my Mom back in the 80s. Her name was Laken Lockridge on Santa Barbara. Also, we love the lake and is our favorite place to hang out. To me, it sounds fun and pretty. As you can see from Jayce's name, I love the letter "y." My love for the letter "y" started after I changed my last name from Glass to Crayne. Some folks in Arkansas where I grew up have heard the name Lakyn, so not too many people there are surprised by it. However, I got lots of questions about the name when I named her in Nebraska. For the middle name, I knew I wanted something traditional since her first name was so different. I had Brad choose between Elizabeth and Elyse. Lakyn's name fits her perfectly. She is sweet, spunky, witty and beautiful. Other names we considered: We were set on her name from the beginning. We didn't really have any boy names picked out.

Conley Robert
I did not have a third name. Conley did not come about until I was about 5 or 6 month pregnant. To me, it sounds smart and sweet. We decided to keep it a secret just for the fun of it. Brad and I love water skiing. Connlley is a brand of water sports equipment. I just changed the spelling. Robert is Brad's first name, Conley's Papaw's middle name, and my grandfather's middle name. I LOVE Conley's name. It is easy to pronounce and spell but still a little different. I'm in love with his name just as I am with him! He is a really sweet, fun loving, and easy going baby. Other names we considered: Adelyn (girl),Kymber (girl), Keyson, Zayde, Wilson

Future names: Not likely, but you never know! I really would like to use Elyse at least as a middle name. I would also like to use Wilson and Wiley since they are both family names.

Shannon Michele:
I was told Shannon came from a soap opera. I think Moma just liked the name Michele. When I was a kid, I really didn't like that Moma had spelled Michele with one "L." Now, I love it that way.

Robert Bradley:
Robert is a family name. Brad's Dad's middle name is Robert. Brad's mom heard the name Brad and liked it. I don't think it was super popular at the time, but it caught wind and ended up being a very popular name in the 80s.
