Every month, I plan some type of trip for the kids. I guess it is my way of saying, "We made it through another month!" Last month, we went to Galveston. This month, we are heading to San Antonio for the weekend. We plan to stay at our favorite hotel with the nice swimming pool. We have tickets to see Charlotte's Web which I'm probably more excited about than the kids. Conley is a little too young for the play, so he is going to play with Brad's previous boss and his wife who live there. We will hopefully also grab some good food and do some light shopping.
Riding on the luggage cart is one the highlights of taking a trip. I pray we have a safe and fun trip!
We are getting closer to the 4 month mark.
What are the kids up to?
Jayce: Playing coach pitch baseball. He practices at least once a week, and he has at least 2 games a week. He loves the DSI. His favorite games are Scooby Doo and Mario Cart. He loves to read. We are currently reading Stuart Little. He really likes his TV time, too. He likes to watch fishing shows, baseball, and Swamp People. He made all As and had perfect attendance on his report card. He has been nominated for the gifted and talented program.
Lakyn: She wants to take her training wheels off her bicycle. She is already ready to turn 5. She wants to grow up too fast. She wants a "fake farter" which is a whoopie cushion. She is Conley's little Moma. She can put a diaper on him just as well as I can. She taught him how to use his fork at the dinner table. She gets so much joy out of seeing him learn new things! She and Jayce fight, but she can't wait until he gets home each day. She looks up to him! She is a sweet girl, and loves to pick flowers for her Moma.
Conley: Just started sitting with us at the dinner table. He thinks he is sooooo big, too! His hair is out of control and needs to be cut. He wakes up looking like Einstein! He crawls out of his crib often. Jayce and Lakyn think it is funny. I don't think it is funny. The boy LOVES to eat and eats more than Lakyn but maybe not quite as much as Jayce. He even cries for food when he sees it. He is obsessed with his little 3 wheeler right now. He rides it up and down the sidewalk and just cries when it is time to come in. He says more and more words all the time. I love how he calls Lakyn, "LaLa!"
Brad: He is very busy with work which I think is a good thing. He still doesn't like the food there but eats pretty well out of the care packages. He just received a care package from us today. Another one is on the way for his birthday. He is very, very homesick. We are really missing him, too. He is running into folks he knew back in his Marine Corps days. He says he spends lots of time killing flies.
Me: I'm on a roller coaster. Some days, I do really well and stay on top. Other days, I get overwhelmed and come crashing down. However, I always somehow make it back on top. The kids and I are in a really good routine which helps so much. My biggest problem is staying up too late. When the kids go to bed, it is finally "me" time. I just have a hard time stopping with all the fun things: catching up on my shows, reading, playing on the computer, long baths, and the occasional project. I'm up to jogging 3 miles a few times a week, lifting light weights a few times a week, and going to my WW meetings. The biggest pro from this deployment would have to be how close I am with the kids. I sure do loves those 3 kiddos. I'm ready to have my whole family back together under one roof!!
